danderyds sjukhus

Previously we showed a couple of glimpses from Danderyd University Hospital on pixels. Here's another one.

An interesting blend of different architectural styles around Svea torn. This is sort of a daytime version of what Bernt showed us.

window reflection

The sign is reflected in the windows at Luma Park, an old factory building in Hammarby Sjöstad in southern Stockholm.

The lost arena

Lady's and Gentlemen let me present the lost seat section of the home arena for the Bromma Pojkarna BP (Bromma Boys). No wonder they just made a guest season in the Swedish Premier football division last year.

People began moving in before Christmas. I wonder what it's like in Svea torn.

allotment garden cottage

On Södermalm you can find several areas with kolonistugor ("weekend cottages"). Here they have to share their view with newly built apartments though. Picture taken south of Ringvägen by Eriksdalsbadet.

hammarby sjöstad

More houses of concrete and glass are built at the waterfront in Hammarby sjöstad ("Hammarby town-by-the-sea")

Saltsjöqvarn

Saltsjöqvarn mill, built in 1890 on the shore of Saltsjön (salt lake) in the entrance to Stockholm. The mill is now closed and flats are being built in the surroundings. The building itself is regarded as architecturally valuable because it is in its original state.

Of course there are some red houses at Nytorget :)

universitetet (4)

...previously on plenty

Structuralism refers to architecture turning into arrangements of interchangeable modules. The Arrhenius Laboratory in Frescati is a good example with prefabricated standard elements of concrete.

destruction/construction redux

We once again turn our lenses towards the (not so) old mail centre at Klara to see how mankind is progressing. I count four machines against one building.

Not everything at Frescati is frightfully old. Here's a glassed path leading to (or from?) the Arrhenius Laboratory in the northern part of the campus.

universitetet

The main campus of Stockholm University is located in Frescati. Signal colours and the letters A-F help students (and staff!) navigate in and between the six main buildings. The architecture is not pretty, still pretty functional.

window watching

Bastugatan ("the Sauna Street") has many nice old houses. People like to decorate their windows. Could this one belong to a sailor?
