Evidently, tram passengers are smarter than folks in the subway or commuter trains. That's why they're allowed to open the doors by themselves.

As a subway rider, I'm sick and tired of being discriminated against!
May the people rise up and be able to open their doors in the underground!
And when we hit freezing temperatures again, it gets real annoying to have twenty doors opened when one person wants to board the train. The ridiculous part of the story being that all door in our subway cars are fully equipped for being maneuvered by passengers. We already paid for the functionality. We just aren't allowed to use it. (End stations being the exception to the rule.)
Thanks, gobzee.
