We Swedish people tend to do as we're told. Take this recycling thing. Most of us gladly sort our garbage before disposing of it and since the nearest recycling station is probably not located where we live we might well have to transport the trash before getting rid of it. And then it'll come back one day, recycled into something different. Amazing.

Here it is still a long way to go, but we have to start somewhere...
I guess the trick is to involve kids through schools or otherwise. Environmentally conscious children will see to it that grown-ups nearby do their fair share... Obviously the infrastructure must be created first, there has got to be a place to do the sorting and collecting.
Here (in Livorno) it would be a success to get rid of trash on pavements and streets. I know that it's quite unbelievable, but people simply throw away cans, bags, anything. Not everybody, but still too many...
There's trash in the streets here as well. Not a lot of it but the problem is growing. Our parks in particular tend to look rather miserable on a Monday morning with remnants from various picnics and what have you.
Thanks for commenting & replying. Interaction is what makes this fun.
