On time
Prunus 'Accolade' is a ornamental cherry or in Swedish "Japanskt körsbärsträd", This particular tree is from plant-nursery in Canada. Rumours say that Japanese cherry trees shall be enjoyed with green tea. I can tell it's much better with black coffee or a large espresso and a good Grappa, yes they exists.

another grand hotel
Per has already given you a glimpse of this Grand Hotel (Saltsjöbaden) and here's another one to conclude our journey. There's a lot of different statues out here. I'm sure this one has a name and artist too, but none were to be found.

ok - so I'm a cow
This pair of cows (swedish = KO) are found grazing (?) on the premises of Vår Gård in Saltsjöbaden. Both are of the race Belgian Blue I gather? At least one thinks it's OK as well. These two were once part of the Cow-parade in 2004 and were later auctioned. Apparently they ended up here.

Nils was here
...and he left his friend "Mårten Gåskarl", the tame goose, behind to tell about it. The whole statue is covered with pictures from "The wonderful adventures of Nils" by Selma Lagerlöf. The statue is created by Edvin Öhrströms and is actually called "the big white", which leads the thoughts more towards a shark than a goose, IMHO. Edvin is perhaps more renowned for another piece - Surprised ?

Who can imagine Why
This construction is located close to a even more strange object not used any more, why it was built and why it looks this way is today a challenge for the imagination.

Remnant from the past
Yet another remnant from the defence line for Bromma Airport This is located more to the south. This artificial rock is a bunker, my best guess is that it is a shelter.

remnants of a defence line
Remnants of a defence line at Bromma Airport. This foundation was most likely populated with Bofors 40 mm Air gun, they were at the time considered state of the art. Walking round in the area uncovers more installations on the surface as well as underground. The concrete pipe is located where the gun was bolted to the ground.

igelboda by day
The Saltsjöbanan rail system isn't frightfully complex. You basically board your train at Slussen and hold on to your hat while traveling eastwards through Nacka Municipality. Much like we're doing here on plenty , if you've been following our trip. But in Igelboda, there's actually a choice to be made as Bernt pointed out yesterday. You could change train and continue the short distance to Solsidan. Or stay the course, like we did.

transfer for "sunny side"
At Igelboda the track is divided. One part goes to Solsidan (Sunny side) and the other towards Saltsjöbaden. Some passengers departed here and I guess a few of them went on the next train to "Sunny side". Seems like a good place to live.

There are multiple reasons to pause at the ground floor of Kulturhuset. While you're pondering investing 5 SEK in a visit to the restrooms, why not admire this stone relief by Rolf Blylods.

conflict of interest ?
Convenient to have both school and youth recreation center located next to another, but hopefully they're not open at the same time. Who knows where the students would spend their time?

'...mind the gap'
The expression has seldom been more apparent as on this picture of the platform. Usually this angle would mean a certain element of imminent danger, but on this day it was fairly OK.

bound for kårsta
Roslagsbanan is a narrow-gauge railway system connecting the city with the northern outskirts of Stockholm County. Here's some serious train spotting in downtown Vallentuna. The 42 km line from Stockholm East to Kårsta is served twice an hour on a winter Sunday.

Forbidden love ?
Actually not, even if it looks that way. There's a flight of stairs right beside the statue, and a fence to stop people from falling down(?). I'm standing quite low here. The statue is called "Youth" by Carl Eldh. It's situated in Saltsjö-Järla, the next stop on our journey on Saltsjöbanan.
